Honest review of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movie: Animal

What we expect from a Sandeep Reddy Vanga film, we got much much more masala than we bargained for. I remember he once said in an interview that we as audiences haven’t even seen what is violence yet. So I think he did not disappoint in that department, for sure.
So what is an animal? An animal is obviously not human, it does not share those human instincts that we carry with us such as: maturity, sensibility, loyalty, morality, justice, and surprisingly so, calmness. Ranbir’s character is EVERYTHING that an animal is like.
Like a lion is known to choose his mates, and he often consciously chooses the most fertile seeming lioness that he thinks will be able to boar his children and healthy ones at that. He did exactly that. Hence, his legacy is to protect, defend, and kill anyone who threatens his family and his tribe. What did the character do? Ding ding ding! Exactly that! This is what Ranbir enacted, and finely so. He was a Lion on screen, a roaring, untamable, violent, steadfast lion that will do ANYTHING to defeat his enemies and protect his kin. As far as many things go, people are looking at this film like it is some appalling, outrageous gist of immorality that no one has ever seen before. Same film made in Hollywood would be praised for its many attributes. But such people must’ve not seen the likes of Godfather I and II if you cannot handle these types of movies and films like Scarface, etc etc to mention the least.
From someone who enjoys Bollywood cinema for its uniqueness, for it’s over the top, far from reality types of grandiose films, I was AMAZED by Sandeep’s swift storytelling. I was hooked, I was spell bound, I was shocked, and I was MESMERIZED. It took me back to the 70s era movies kind of storytelling that the directors of that time were making but 100 times more intense. Deewaar, Don, Sholay, Apradh, Qurbani, Jaanbaaz, and many other films of that time had the “shock” factor that Animal had. Highly stylized, with impeccable cinematography. Those films of that time were path breaking, were known to shock the audiences and also upset them in many ways too. These all became classics. But we aren’t to watch such films for any kind of inspiration. For sheer talent that Ranbir Kapoor has shown, for the direction, for the action, the music, the background score, the flawless editing skills, and for the cinematic experience, this film is not one to be missed. I feel very sorry for those who have not seen it, who have no desire to watch it, and who pre-judged such a film that strikes a chord with almost every Bollywood movie deewana. Such people are too sensitive and should also not watch horror films and action movies if they are so easily repulsed by blood, disloyalty/cheating, narcissism, misogyny, violence, and many other things that we so agree that is known to be a part of an ANIMAL’S nature. They must be prudish anyways and don’t deserve to even see such a film, please leave it to us fanatics.

Watched the little mermaid with my step daughter and loved it!

Soooo many things rush through my mind when I think of Disney movies. But this particular one I’ve been anticipating for a whole year! I can’t believe I actually got to watch it and my husband and step daughter(she’s 8 btw) took me to go see it. I felt like a whole a$$ child. There was a childlike glimmer in my eyes and I was so so so ecstatic as soon as I entered the theater and heard the Disney logo music I started to jump up and down like a child. I think my step daughter was just as excited even though had already seen it the week before with her mom. One thing she kept saying was “you’re gonna love this movie I promise,” and I had zero doubts about it. I’ve never been so excited in my whole life since I saw the cartoon movie at daycare when I was only 6. You can gauge my age by that. That was about 1993. But it was a magical experience to say the least. Halle Bailey was so, what’s the word, Enigmatic! Superb! Relatable! Beautiful! And the director made the experience for both adults and children, Magical! I was spell bound. So happy they chose her! And for the poop heads that don’t like her, I have no words for you. Maybe get a life? Lol and stop criticizing what people do. It’s sad that you’re hell bent on making it about yourself and race, and how and what the little mermaid “should look like”. Halle was just marvelous. That infectious smile, that cute dimple on her cheek, that glimmer in her eyes, the shine on her skin. She was just so graceful and innocent. She made us feel that she is confidently and unapologetically, Ariel. Despite the backlash she received, I feel this gal is going to go a long way in her career. I will always remember her as our cute Little mermaid.

Medical schooling should be affordable

In present times I have realized that we need to make many changes in the way we see healthcare. In the months to come there will be a shortage of doctors, nurses, and front liners. Why is there this shortage? How can we see where we went wrong in scouting more healthcare professionals? Where can we make those improvements? These are various questions that run through my mind. Being a healthcare management major and not furthering my career due to not being able to pursue a Masters degree because of personal reasons and many other factors. The main factor being that I didn’t want to be knee deep in debt and also many can only dream of getting a fantastic offer upon graduation.
Front liners can only do so much. What we need is better administration, more doctors with leadership qualities. Not having to worry about it taking 10-15 years to pay off their student loan debt. To not have to worry that more than half their paycheck goes to paying their bills and the other half goes towards their student loans which easily amount to 200K or more. When countries like Sweden, Poland, and Germany have free Healthcare and free medical college education. Why are we Americans so behind in making such amazing changes? Because we profit from a capitalist standpoint.

Universities and colleges only grant you so much to be able to pay for tuition, books, housing, and necessities. If we made sure that students were covered along the way, more students would have an incentive to consider becoming Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, and Administrators. There should be more American born and raised doctors too. Instead of having to export doctors, we need to birth our own. The US heavily relies on foreign born doctors. There will also be a shortage this year of 45,000 doctors according to the National Rural Health Association. These existing doctors and healthcare professionals are putting their lives at risk to ensure that we are safe. Each doctor foresees up to 51 patients at a time. Under great stress, under extreme tension, these doctors and medical professionals put their happiness and safety above ours. It’s high time their efforts be recognized and their loans be forgiven. May the government open more Universities to the idea of more grants and low tuition costs.  May America see more students considering medical professions. May we have more doctors  per patient pools. May we have more universities be like NYU where medical schooling is free of charge. May we stand together and fight this Coronavirus and may our doctors and health professionals have more strength and incentive to take greater care of their patients. May the heroes of today live to see the heroes of tomorrow.
